About half of Australians have never had skin checked, new research reveals
A survey by Newspoll, commissioned by Melanoma Patients Australia, found that 46 per cent of 1232 people surveyed questioned had never had a professional skin check.
People’s awareness of the deadly cancer had grown, with 98 per cent correctly identifying exposure to the sun as a risk factor, along with solarium and sun bed use 93 per cent, having a family history of melanoma 79 per cent and colour of your skin 76 per cent. Melanoma Awareness Day at The Entrance NSW on Saturday 3rd November
Jay Allen and members of the Central Coast Melanoma Support Group are staging a melanoma awareness day at The Entrance on November 3 between 8am and 3pm . Another march is planned March 2013 on the coast to walk in honour of those that have passed, those who are fighting and those who have survived melanoma. The aim is to raise awareness and funds for a cure.
