Upregulated histone deacetylase 6 associates with malignant progression of melanoma and predicts the prognosis of patients
Source: MDLINx, December 2020
Whether histone deacetylase 6 (HDAC6) has predictive value for the prognosis of patients suffering from cutaneous melanoma, was investigated herein. This analysis involved 80 cutaneous melanoma patients. Experts found a significant correlation of high HDAC6 expression with unfavorable clinicopathological characteristics. High HDAC6 expression was found to be associated with melanoma metastasis and also with a decreased survival time in melanoma patients, and this link continued to be significant in multivariate analysis adjusted for all other factors. In this study, HDAC6 expression was confirmed to have utility as an independent biomarker for the prognostication of cutaneous melanoma cases.
