Nodular HNM Is Predominant in Asian Patients and Linked to Poor Outcomes
Source: Dermatology Advisor, June 2023
Among Asian patients, a high proportion of head and neck malignant melanomas (HNMs) are of the nodular subtype and are associated with poor outcomes and low survival, researchers reported in Melanoma Research.
In this retrospective study, researchers assessed the clinicopathologic features and prognostic factors associated with HNM in Asian patients. Study participants had a histologic diagnosis of cutaneous malignant melanoma and underwent surgical treatment at a single tertiary-level hospital between January 2003 and December 2020.
The researchers evaluated and compared demographic and clinicopathologic features of HNMs and other melanomas in the participants.
