Australian writer Natalie Fornasier has been battling an aggressive form of skin cancer for the past eight years and has just been told she only has a couple of months left to live.

Growing up in Australia, there’s no hiding from the harsh intensity of the sun. Summers spent outdoors and school holidays destined for the coastline make sunburns a kind of inevitable part of living under the Aussie UV.

It thus comes as no surprise that Australia holds the highest rates of melanoma in the world, and with no sign of its prevalence slowing down.
