A blood test will now be able to diagnose melanoma in medical breakthrough

Victoria is leading the world in cancer research, with an exciting announcement that melanoma can now be diagnosed with a blood test.

Health minister Jill Hennessy told Ross and John the test is a world first.

Previous diagnosis used to involve very complex and invasive surgical biopsies that took weeks before answers were available

?"We’ve had a terrific discovery here which effectively means that you don’t have to have a biopsy but you can diagnose melanoma with what is effectively a blood test," Ms Hennessy said.
