Australia’s Melanoma Genome Project

Melanoma Institute Australia has launched a Melanoma Genome Project which was officially announced on Friday, 24th August by NSW Minister for Health and Minister for Medical Research, Jillian Skinner.
The NSW Government contributed $AU500,000 towards the $AU5.5m project that will work toward identifying effective treatments for patients based on the genetic characteristics of individual melanomas. Cancer Council NSW also sponsored the project with a grant of $AU500,000.
Executive Director Professor John Thompson thanked the generosity of so many involved including individual donors who continue to support the Institute’s research. He said the project would move the world closer to preventing and curing melanoma.
