Gender differences in cutaneous melanoma: Demographics, prognostic factors, and survival outcomes

Researchers used the National cancer database to determine the features of melanoma that contribute to overall survival (OS) of women living in the United States.

Men and women diagnosed from 2004 to 2016 were compared in terms of demographics, treatment, and survival of invasive cutaneous melanoma.

A significantly higher median age of diagnosis at 61 years was found in men vs women where the median age of diagnosis was 55 years. The trunk was reported as the most common primary site for men, whereas the most common primary site for women was the lower extremities.
