This research was intended to evaluate the expression of DNA methyltransferase 1 is a hallmark of melanoma, associates with the response to B-Raf and MEK inhibition and with proliferation in melanocytic tumors.

Researchers examined DNA methyltransferase (Dnmt)-1 expression in primary melanocytes, melanoma cell lines, and 83 melanocytic tumors, and its relationships with proliferation, mutational status, and response to B-Raf and marker extraction kernel (MEK) inhibition were explored.

The outcomes of this research indicate that Dnmt1 expression is associated with proliferation in melanocytic tumors, is elevated with melanoma progression, and is correlated with the response to B-Raf and MEK inhibition.
