Researchers urge genetic testing to identify melanoma risk

Australians under the age of 40 are at higher risk of developing melanoma in unexpected and non-sun-damaged parts of their bodies, new research has found.
It has led to calls for genetic testing for melanoma-linked gene mutations so people at risk can be identified early.
Dr Erin McMeniman from UQ’s Diamantina Institute took DNA samples and photographs from 585 volunteers with a history of one of more melanoma.
