Research finds why immunotherapy fails some melanoma patients

Researchers have discovered why certain people with melanoma do not respond to immunotherapy, with hopes the discovery will lead to better treatments for people with the deadly cancer.

John Travers was nearly 70 when he was diagnosed with late-stage melanoma in 2017, but has had a complete recovery thanks to taking part in an immunotherapy trial.

Mr Travers had been feeling run down but otherwise fine, but when his doctor ordered routine tests they revealed he had late-stage melanoma that had spread to multiple parts of his body including his brain and kidneys.
