Life expectancy for advanced melanoma patients has tripled since 2009

Until recently there was no effective treatment for advanced melanoma.

That’s changing, with world-leading Australian melanoma research tripling the life expectancy for some advanced melanoma patients since 2009.

Last week, Professor Georgina Long and Professor Richard Scolyer from the Melanoma Institute of Australia were awarded the GSK Award for Research Excellence 2018 for their work on the customisation of immunotherapies to treat melanoma patients.
