Drug on PBS gives melanoma survivors hope to close door on cancer

After surgery to remove melanoma from her lymph nodes, Brisbane woman Helen Reber was ready to get on with her life, when her doctor called her in for a talk.

She feared the worst – that the cancer had come back – but instead her doctor explained they wanted her to do further treatment to help prevent any recurrence of the cancer.

The 44-year-old had been told there was a risk the cancer could return, but until then had no idea anything could be done about it.
